MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHER 2026
Starting on August 10, 2026, the mobile photography competition "Mobile Photographer 2026" will take place. The best mobile photographer of the year will be selected, along with top performers in various photography categories. Winners will be determined by a combination of jury evaluation and the popularity of images on social media. The competition aims to inspire and highlight the potential for creating amazing pictures using mobile phones. Part of the reward is the experience on the island of Hållö, located off Kungshamn and Smögen, which is one of Sweden's most beautiful places.
The winning images will be featured in our digital magazine on mobile photography, Mobilfotografen, which is published every other month.
PARTICIPATION
The competition is open to everyone in Sweden and internationally who takes pictures with a mobile phone or tablet. Maximum two contest entries in total. Only one image per category." Read more about “Rules and Terms” below.

PROCESS AND TIMELINE

Submission of Entries: August 10–17 in the Facebook group “Mobilfotografen Forum”

Jury Selection & Voting Begins: The jury selects photos from the Facebook group to be featured on the Facebook page “mobilfotografen.se”, published between August 18–27. Followers can start voting for their favorites. From August 28, all entries are finalized and voting continues until September 7.

Finalists & Public Voting: In early September, the finalists are published on the Facebook page “mobilfotografen.se” and Instagram “mobilfotografen.se”. Public voting begins to determine the Mobile Photographer of the Year. Follow on Instagram to stay updated!

Jury Deliberation: Mid-September, the jury begins its final evaluation. The Mobile Photographer of the Year and category winners are determined based on the highest combined scores from both the preliminary and final rounds.

Announcement of Winners: Winners will be announced during September.

RULES AND CONDITIONS
Editing of images is allowed via mobile apps and traditionell editing software.
Uploading images, resizing, and changing file names are permitted even via desktop. There is no restriction on when the image was taken.
Manipulation, montages, and AI-generated images are not allowed.
Photo signatures, logos, and frames are not permitted.
Competition categories: We create a photo category when at least four images has been selected from the Facebook group "Mobilfotografen Forum" and posted on the Facebook page "mobilfotografen.se"; otherwise, the image will be placed in the "Open" category.
Participation in the competition book is mandatory for winners. A Additional images beyond the winners may also have the opportunity to be featured in the book. Participants will receive a reference copy each. All selected photographers will be contacted for high-resolution images and supplementary information.
Consent: Participants are responsible for obtaining consent from individuals identifiable in the images.
Disqualification: Images that are not taken with a mobile phone or tablet, not taken by the competing photographer, or contain offensive content will be disqualified. The photographer retains ownership of their images but grants the organizer the right to use them in connection with the competition, marketing, photo exhibitions, and other contexts to promote the competition, including on the portal Mobilfotografen.
Jury Decision: The jury's decision is final.
Meta, Facebook or Instagram neither sponsor nor participate in organizing the competition.

EVALUATION AND VOTING
By combining jury evaluation with public voting, a fair and engaging competition is created. Public votes are based on the number of likes, comments, and, most importantly, how much the image is shared, which determines its reach—that is, how many people will see the image.
The jury evaluates based on criteria such as composition, creativity, sense of light, quality, and originality. The image with the highest total score is awarded Mobile Photographer of the Year, while category winners are determined by the highest score within their respective categories. The jury's vote will carry more weight than the public votes.

WINNER’S PRIZE, CATEGORY WINNERS AND EXPOSURE
The winner will receive a prize valued at SEK 5,000.
The recipient of the “Mobile Photographer of the Year award” will win an exclusive experience: a visit to the island of Hållö, including overnight accommodation for two people at Utpost Hållö. Transportation is provided by boat via the HållöExpressen from Kungshamn or Smögen. Guided tour and visit to Hållö Lighthouse.
With a gift card from Göstas Fisk & Skaldjursbutik in Smögen, the prizewinner can choose either to bring seafood out to the island or enjoy dinner at Göstas Fiskekrog restaurant in Smögen. Additionally, the winner will receive: A gift card from Visit Smögen / Sotenäs Tourist Association to use at affiliated local businesses A discount code for purchases at mobilfotografen.se

On the cover of the competition book.
Any applicable taxes on the prize are the responsibility of the winner.
Beyond this, the winning photograph will be featured as the cover image of the competition book . Any applicable prize tax is the responsibility of the winner.
Category winners will be included in the competition book and Additional finalists may also be included in the book.
All winners will receive a digital certificate and a reference copy of the book featuring their work. The winning photographers will be showcased on one of Sweden’s largest social media platforms for photography and in the digital magazine “mobilfotografen.”
THE COMPETITION BOOK
Next year, in 2027, the overall winner and the category winners will be featured in the competition book. The book is published every other year and includes images from the two most recent competitions. Subscribe to the newsletter and get notified when these become available to order here!
